What Substrates Can W-A-G Be Applied Direct to?
It can be applied to clean, sound unpainted concrete, brick, and concrete block.
-
What Surfaces Require Priming First?
Prepared Colourbond, Aluminium, Timber, and previously painted surfaces such as Acrylics, catalyses acrylic, Alkyds, Epoxies, and Powder Coatings.
-
Are There Any Surfaces That Cannot Be Coated?
Yes, at this stage of development, they are Stainless Steel and Polyurethane. However our applicator will check the surface for feasibility.
-
Once W-A-G Finish Is Applied, How Do We Change the Colour Scheme of Our Building?
W-A-G Finish would normally be applied in a section from ground level to 2.5-3.0 metres high and in any other public access areas. The majority of a building's surface area cannot be coated with W-A-G Finish, and changing a colour scheme would not pose any problem. W-A-G Finish can be removed from the surface using higher-pressure water washing, than that used to remove graffiti.
-
What Is the Recommended Water Pressure for the Removal Of Graffiti?
Low-pressure water between 1000-1500psi can be used to effectively remove graffiti. However, most graffiti can be removed within 48 hours using a wet rag.
-
Are Chemical Additives/ Detergents Required When Washing?
No, W-A-G Finish is a true environmentally friendly coating and does not require detergents, chemical, or abrasives, or the use of other additives to help remove the graffiti.
-
Does W-A-G Require Hot Water to Remove Graffiti?
No - unlike some anti-graffiti coatings, W-A-G does not require hot water, making graffiti removal easier, quicker, safer, and more cost effective.
-
Is It Necessary to Reapply W-A-G Finish after Each Graffiti Removal Episode?
No, W-A-G Finish is a non-sacrificial coating formulated to resist multiple graffiti removal episodes.
-
How Many Times Can Graffiti Be Removed before W-A-G Finish Must Be Reinstated?
Providing the coating does not sustain physical damage, it will not require reinstatement. It has been found that where W-A-G has been vandalised on unpainted brick and concrete, there has been enough residual coating remaining within the substrate to prevent further graffiti adhering.
-
How Long Will W-A-G Perform When Exposed to Sunlight?
Being essentially inorganic, W-A-G is not affected by sunlight. Accelerated exposure testing indicates that the performance of W-A-G exceeds all current polyurethane technology.
-
Is There a Repair Procedure in Case W-A-G Finish Receives Mechanical Damage?
W-A-G Finish is fully re-coatable with itself. The repair area should be treated using normal pre-treatment procedures before reinstating the W-A-G Finish as a spot repair.
-
Can W-A-G Finish Be Overcoated?
W-A-G Finish can be overcoated with itself.
-
What Is the Minimum Time Required for Freshly Applied W-A-G Finish to Become Resistant to Graffiti?
This is dependent on environmental factors. At 50% RH and 25°C, approximately 6 hours.
-
During Graffiti Removal by Water Washing, What Chemicals Are Released?
None - W-A-G Finish is non-toxic and environmentally friendly. The only "by-products" are water and the graffiti itself.
-
What Is the Minimum Recoat Time for the Primer before W-A-G Finish Can Be Applied?
16 Hours @ 25°C.
-
What Happens If the Primer Sustains Graffiti Damage before W-A-G Finish Can Be Applied?
W-A-G Primer has excellent graffiti release properties. Most graffiti can be washed off using the same removal procedures as W-A-G Finish.
-
These Products Contain Silicone - Can These Cause Contamination Problems?
There are many different types of silicones. Almost all paint coatings contain silicone in one form or another. W-A-G, for example, can be applied inside a spray booth without detrimental effect to the application of any other coating, once dry.
-
Are There Special Procedures Required for Cleaning of Application Equipment?
No, treat the cleaning of W-A-G Finish like a normal solvent-containing coating.
-
Can W-A-G Be Applied Directly to Mild Steel?
For mild steel, a suitable anti-corrosion system is required prior to applying W-A-G Primer and Finish.
-
Does W-A-G Offer Any Other Protection to the Substrate Other Than for Graffiti?
Being a non-sacrificial coating and abrasion resistant, it provides a permanent membrane against graffiti attack and protects the substrate from environmental wear and degradation.
-
Can W-A-G Be Applied Directly to Galvanised Steel?
This application is currently under investigation.
-
Is W-A-G an Environmentally Safe Product?
Yes, it is one of the safest. None of the W-A-G coating is removed with the graffiti and no flammable solvents are used. Only low-pressure water is needed to remove graffiti.
-
Why Is W-A-G an Effective Coating against Graffiti?
W-A-G employs DEHESIVE® technology, not unlike that used on the paper backing for self-sticking labels. The coating is hydrophobic and soft; it deforms under water pressure and destabilises the graffiti, allowing it to be easily washed off.
